Contributor

The sun's out and the patios are officially open! While you probably have your favourite bars and restaurants that you're already looking forward to visiting, there are also tons of hidden gems in the city that deserve some love this summer.

Toronto is home to some of the best restaurants in the country, and this summer is your chance to explore them. From Etobicoke to Scarborough, through the Islands to North York, let your taste buds take you on a tour of these BIPOC-owned restaurants.

You can also get the chance to win a whole year of patio dining from Destination Toronto, just by visiting patios across the city — from rooftops to sidewalk patios and even parking lots. To enter Destination Toronto's latest contest, simply take a photo while at the patio and share it on social media using the hashtag #PatioscapesTO.

The contest runs for six weeks, with each week having a special theme. From now until July 13, the theme is "First Timer". Destination Toronto wants you to find a patio to try that you've never been to before. If you're stuck for ideas, this list of seven great patio spots should give you a good head start.

So are you ready to enjoy some of the greatest patios Toronto has to offer? Just bring your bubble or your household and your appetite. As always, respect the restaurant's safety protocols that they have put in place and dine responsibly.

Why You Need To Go: Located inside the Annex, Aunty Lucy's is a Toronto staple. Created by Chieff Bosompra, it started as a pop-up restaurant but quickly became a mainstay of downtown Toronto.
