Liberal Government Announces New Measures in Support of the Tourism Industry

OTTAWA – The Prime Minister of Canada, the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, have announced the launch of targeted support measures for hard hit Canadian businesses and organizations. This includes a new Tourism and Hospitality Recovery Program and a new Hardest-Hit Business Recovery Program, running from October 24, 2021 to May 7, 2022. These, in combination with a new international vaccine passport, are intended to help support our hard-hit sector through the winter period, prioritizing job creation and a strong recovery of the travel economy.

A significant win for our industry, this announcement comes on the heels of continued advocacy from the Coalition of Hardest Hit Businesses with support from the CLMA. Ongoing support is vital to the successful rebuild of the live music industry both on the road to recovery and to sustain through the winter season.

We will share more details as they emerge.
