APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR THE TOURISM RELIEF FUND
Applications are open until May 15; join the May 2nd webinar to learn more.
The Tourism Relief Fund provides an opportunity for tourism businesses to invest in adapting, expanding, or enhancing their products and services both to support recovery and build for long-term growth. Tourism businesses and organizations in Toronto, Mississauga, and Brampton can apply to the fund at rto5.com.
To support businesses and help them navigate the application process, there will be a webinar on May 2nd, 2022 at 12 pm, providing an overview of the process and eligibility, including an opportunity to ask questions.

DESTINATION TORONTO ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Destination Toronto will hold its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, June 9, 2021 at 3 p.m.
The event will take place in person at the Metro Toronto Convention Center and will also be broadcast live.

The Toronto Caribbean Carnival celebrates 55th Emerald anniversary
- Celebrating the 55th Emerald Anniversary of the Parade, the Toronto Caribbean Carnival introduces a brand-new theme for the 2022 festival season - EMBRACE THE CARNIVAL IN YOU. The Grand Parade is returning to Exhibition Place on July 30, 2022, with Mas Bands, Steel Pan Players, Calypsonians, and Traditional Mas artists. As one of the largest festivals in Canada, the Toronto Caribbean Carnival brings in thousands of people worldwide, taking place over four glorious weeks for an all-out spectacle of visual and performing arts.
Pride Toronto to return with in-person events after 2-year pandemic hiatus - After two years of online programming, Toronto's Pride month and festival is returning with in-person events across the city in June. Pride 2022 launches with a kick-off party and mini-ball at El Mocambo on June 8, and continues with an assortment of parties and events intended to foster community connection, like the Black Queer and Trans Excellence Live Podcast Recording at Hotel X on June 21, an online human rights series and localized neighbourhood events in Scarborough, North York and Etobicoke.
Word on the Street Returns

With the return of street festivals this year, there are a ton of events that will fill your open schedule. The Word On The Street returns to the city for its 33rd year. The glorious outdoor market showcasing a wide range of Canadian and Indigenous books, magazines, and comics is set to take over a huge section of Queen's Park Crescent East, from Bloor St. West to Wellesley St. East from June 11 through June 12.
Redpath Waterfront Festival Returns to Toronto with a Splash
- The Redpath Waterfront Festival (RWF) today announced its return to Toronto’s waterfront with its first in-person festival after two years. From September 17-18, 2022, visitors are invited to a ‘Water Weekend’ which will take place in HTO Park and Sugar Beach. The Festival will celebrate the last weekend of summer by featuring unique onland and on-water programs including Parks Canada, the Royal Canadian Navy and Theodore TOO Tugboat.
Clark Centre for the Arts Opens
- Located inside Guild Park and Gardens, the Clark Centre for the Arts is a stunning new cultural facility that houses specialized art studios and gallery spaces that Toronto residents and visitors can enjoy year-round. The Centre will provide rental opportunities and deliver close to 90 accessible arts programs annually, including art courses, workshops and camps. Guild Park and Gardens is a unique 88 acre site on the Scarborough Bluffs that includes forests, shoreline and a collection of architectural fragments, sculptures and buildings.
'Toronto Metropolitan University' honours place, community and values
- The new name for Ryerson University, Toronto Metropolitan University, was approved unanimously by the Board of Governors. The new name Toronto Metropolitan University embodies many things, the community, the students, faculty, staff and alumni. Located in the heart of the country’s biggest and most diverse city - it represents all that it is to be metropolitan. A gathering place for people from all over the world, from all walks of life, with broad and diverse perspectives, lived experiences and aspirations.
Rolling Loud Hip Hop Festival Coming to Toronto - Calling all hip-hop music lovers! Rolling Loud has just announced that the festival will be making its way to Toronto later this year. The hip-hop music festival will be held at Ontario Place from Sept. 9 through Sept. 11 and will feature a huge gamut of major artists including Wizkid, Future, and Dave all as headliners.
Toronto is getting a Filipino Street Festival
- Fun Philippines is a new street festival coming to Toronto this summer, featuring tons of food vendors, carnival rides and cultural installations for visitors to enjoy. Organized by the Philippine Legacy and Cultural Alliance (PLACA), the festival will offer an exciting, in-depth look into Filipino culture and diversity.
Black and Indigenous Farmer’s Market comes to Toronto
- Starting in May, and running every Sunday morning until the end of September the Deeply Rooted Farmers' Market will be opening its doors at 455 Cosburn Avenue in East York for visitors to come celebrate BIPOC food providers. The new space will serve to provide a chance for BIPOC farmers and chefs to put their goods on display, showcasing a range of products from culturally diverse foods to common everyday staples.
Toronto Officially has more Millennials than Boomers

According to the latest census data from Statistics Canada, this is the very first-time millennials beat out the number of baby boomers living in the 6ix. In Toronto and five of Canada's largest cities where over a million people live there, millennials make up 23.3% of the population, which is a one percent leg up over baby boomers living in these areas.
