TORONTO INC LEADS COLLABORATIVE MISSION IN AMSTERDAM

Toronto Inc partners, Destination Toronto, Toronto Region Board of Trade and Toronto Global, along with teams from Toronto Pearson Airport and the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, conducted a key business mission to Amsterdam this week at the annual SIBOS financial conference taking place in Amsterdam this year ahead of meeting in Toronto next year.

Employers are invited to participate in the 2022 Toronto Refugee Hiring Event taking place at Metro Hall on Monday, November 21, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

The event is open to employers who have multiple vacancies and are prepared to offer interviews to pre-screened candidates. A collaboration across multiple community partners, the Hiring Event is organized by the Refugee Jobs Agenda Roundtable.

BETH POTTER CEO OF TIAC SPEAKS AT WORLD TOURISM DAY

On Sept. 27, 2022, the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) attended the United Nations’ World Tourism Organization’s (UNWTO) World Tourism Day in Bali, Indonesia. 

Beth Potter, President & CEO of TIAC, spoke on the role and importance of public-private partnerships to the economic recovery of the sector; in keeping with this year’s theme of “Rethinking Tourism.”

ADDRESSING CANADA’S LABOUR SHORTAGE

To address the labour shortage in Canada, the government has temporarily lifted the 20-hour-per-week cap on the number of hours that international students are eligible to work. 

The temporary change will take effect from November 15, 2022 until December 31, 2023.

ONTARIO CREATES JOBS INVESTING IN INDIGENOUS TOURISM

The Ontario Government is providing $300,000 to Indigenous Tourism Ontario (ITO) through the Pan-Regional Fund to support authentic Indigenous experiences and create jobs throughout Ontario. 

A wide range of projects will be supported including cultural authenticity workshops, product development and itineraries, as well as marketing and workforce development.
