TIAO SURVEY IN ADVANCE OF NOVEMBER'S ONTARIO BUDGET

With a November budget on the horizon in Ontario, it's imperative that TIAO has up-to-date information on how tourism and hospitality businesses are managing more than 6 months into the pandemic. It's equally as vital that Toronto's voice is reflected in the survey results. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey below.

This survey is open until September 18, 5 pm.

JOIN THE DAY OF VISIBILITY FOR THE LIVE EVENT COMMUNITY

On Tuesday 22 September, 2020, an hour after sundown, the live event community is asking technicians, suppliers and venues across the country to light up live events in red – raising awareness for an industry that is still dark.

Early response has been overwhelming. Organizations, grassroots groups and individuals are coming together to ask and assist with illuminating landmarks in red, bringing to light the many performers, creators, technical, logistical, and management support personnel who drive a $100 billion Canadian economic engine.

Let's light Toronto red on September 22 and show Canada, and the world, how important this industry is our city.

SOCIAL SERIES:
FEATURING TIFF, ST. REGIS TORONTO, THE ROM AND TORONTO ISLAND

The collaborations continue as we wrap up summer and head into fall. Destination Toronto has been collaborating with businesses throughout the industry. Here are some of the collaborations from this week.

  • TIFF: TIFF is here! We kicked off TIFF this week with an unboxing on Instagram Live to show TIFF's Festival in a Box and talk about how the Festival is different this year. TIFF coverage and collaborations on social continues throughout the festival to showcase what the in-person screenings are like at this year's festival.

  • St Regis Toronto: This week. Destination Toronto partnered with St. Regis Toronto for a staycation giveaway including 2 nights, spa treatments and dining at one of Toronto's most luxurious hotels.

  • ROM: Did you know there's a Winnie the Pooh exhibit at the ROM? One of childhoods favourite stories at one of our favourite Toronto attractions was featured on our insta this week.

  • Toronto Island: This week's 'neighbourhood' takeover featured Toronto Island where @DineandFash toured iconic spots to close out summer.

Let's keep collaborating and showcasing what Toronto has to offer this summer! If you're interested in collaborating with us, let us know via the link below.

CITY OF TORONTO NEWS:
PORTABLE HEATERS FOR
CaféTO, STREAMLINED PATIO HEATER PROCESS

With cooler fall weather approaching, the City of Toronto has announced plans to allow portable heaters to be placed in all outdoor patios, including CaféTO curb lane closures, to help keep outdoor dining spaces open longer and provide additional support for local restaurants.

The CaféTO program is due to end in late fall (pending snowfall in weather forecasts) and allowing restaurant operators to safely introduce portable heaters will help make outdoor dining more appealing to customers, encourage physical distancing to help stop virus spread, and give restaurant operators the chance to maximize outdoor patio season and generate revenue.
