CELEBRATE TOURISM WEEK 2022 - MAY 29 TO JUNE 4
Tourism Week is an annual invitation for all tourism partners to come together to champion and promote Canada’s destinations, tourism businesses, and employees – from coast to coast to coast. After more than two devastating years for tourism, border restrictions have finally been removed, and this year’s theme is Travel Now: For Work, Life, and Play!

Light it Up - TIAC is challenging all destinations, landmarks, attractions, venues, and hotels to light up in TIAC green (colour hex code #8BC53F) from May 29-June 4 as part of its #GreenMeansGosocial media campaign during Tourism Week to raise awareness of the industry’s economic, social, and cultural importance.

Change Your Pic - As the economic recovery gathers momentum, let’s make sure that the toll the pandemic has taken on the industry is not forgotten. Change your businesses social media profile pictures to the TIAC logo for the duration of Tourism Week (May 29-June 4), available for download below.

MAYOR TORY LED FIRST IN-PERSON TORONTO FILM INDUSTRY MISSION TO LOS ANGELES SINCE 2019
From May 24 to 25, 2022, Mayor John Tory led an in-person Toronto film industry mission to Los Angeles. Intended to help deepen relationships with established studios producing in Toronto, and those that have not yet brought productions to the city, it is the first in-person mission to Los Angeles since 2019.
Mayor Tory made the announcement alongside Deputy Mayor Michael Thompson (Scarborough Centre), and Councillors Paula Fletcher (Toronto-Danforth) and James Pasternak (York Centre).

MARIA HUPFIELD IS THE FIRST SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE FOR THE INAUGURAL ARTWORXTO LEGACY ARTIST IN RESIDENCE (AIR) PROGRAM
For her residency, Maria will be working with the City of Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation, Urban Forestry branch bringing her creative force to bear in exploring and highlighting perception of and pressures on Toronto's ravines.
Maria Hupfield (she/her) is an artist and transdisciplinary maker working with Industrial felt at the intersection of performance art, design and sculpture; an Assistant Professor in Indigenous Performance and Digital Arts, and Canadian Research Chair in Transdisciplinary Indigenous Arts, Director / Lead Artist of the Indigenous Creation Studio, Department of Visual Studies / English and Drama, at the University of Toronto Mississauga.
The ArtworxTO Legacy Artist in Residence program has the goal of bringing visibility to the arts as a significant civic process; creating lasting impact on departmental practices, improved relations between civil servants and citizens, increased visibility for marginalized populations and a meaningful integration of art into the everyday business of city building.
