CANADIAN AND U.S. GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCE REMOVAL OF KEY REMAINING TESTING REQUIREMENTS FOR AIR TRAVEL
Today the Canadian federal Government announced that, effective this weekend, mandatory random testing at Canada’s airports for arriving passengers would be suspended through the end of June. After that, beginning in July, random testing will return but will be conducted off-airport through take-home test kits. This is a very important step in removing a key barrier to travel and a major cause of recent delays and lines at Canada’s major airports, including Toronto Pearson.
In addition, the U.S. federal Government announced today that the U.S. will no longer require proof of negative test to enter the country by air, also effective this weekend. While Canada dropped this requirement several weeks ago, the requirement remained in place to enter the U.S.. This announcement also removes an important hurdle and will help support the rebound of travel from our vital U.S. markets.
