Today, it was announced that 117 Toronto businesses received funding from the Tourism Relief Fund to support the continued recovery of the visitor economy. 117 TORONTO BUSINESSES RECEIVE OVER $9.5M IN TOURISM RECOVERY SUPPORT

As the tourism industry continues to recover, 117 tourism businesses and organizations in Toronto have received support from Regional Tourism Organization 5 - Greater Toronto Area (RTO5) through the Government of Canada’s Tourism Relief Fund, delivered by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).

A further 24 businesses in Mississauga and Brampton are also benefiting from this federal support.

BUSINESS AND LOCAL LEADERS ENCOURAGE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO EXPAND AND EXTEND CANADIAN TRUSTED-TRAVELLER PROGRAM

Leaders from Destination Toronto, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Toronto Airports Authority have announced the formation of a coalition advocating for enhancements to air travel through Toronto Pearson and airports across Canada.

The coalition – Innovate. Travel. Canada. (ITC) includes 15+ business leaders from a wide range of sectors who have joined forces to advocate for long-term innovative and technology-based initiatives to help Toronto Pearson remain a world-class airport.

DESTINATION CANADA EMBRACES NEW BRAND AMBITION WITH FIRST-OF-ITS KIND PARTNERSHIP WITH TED

Destination Canada introduced its new global brand strategy to put Canada on the map as the destination that inspires openness. 

This new brand strategy will be unveiled through a series of traditional and unconventional marketing initiatives, including a first-of-its kind partnership with TED.

The TED talks will be released this Spring.

AIR CANADA IS THE FIRST AIRLINE IN CANADA TO OFFER FACIAL RECOGNITION TECH FOR IDENTIFICATION VERIFICATION

Air Canada announced it has launched digital identification, becoming the first airline in Canada with approval to offer customers the safety and convenience of a new option using facial recognition technology to confirm identification. 

Air Canada's digital identification pilot project is now available for eligible customers entering the Air Canada Café at Toronto Pearson International Airport.
