CITY CONDUCTING NIGHT ECONOMY REVIEW AND INVITES PUBLIC FEEDBACK 

The City of Toronto is seeking input to inform a review of licensing and zoning regulations for bars, restaurants and entertainment venues as well as strategies to support Toronto’s night economy – the social, cultural and business activities that occur at night (6 p.m. to 6 a.m.). 

 

Members of the public are encouraged to participate by completing an online survey and/or by attending an in-person or virtual consultation to share feedback. Details are available on the city’s Night Economy Review webpage.

EXPERIENCE ONTARIO 2023 PROGRAM FOR FESTIVALS AND EVENTS 

The Ontario government is launching the Experience Ontario 2023 program for festivals and events taking place between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024. The government is investing $19.5 million in one-time funding through the Experience Ontario 2023 program. 


The program will provide support to in-person festivals and events with a tourism economic impact to motivate visitors to rediscover Ontario, reconnect people with local experiences, and increase tourism spending.

DESTINATION CANADA TED TALK: CAN AI OUTSMART US?

Through the TED partnership, Destination Canada has showcased the country’s intellectual capital in key economic sectors such as technology to help position Canada as top choice for business events to key decision makers around the world. 


Canada is home to a thriving community of innovators; among them is Alona Fyshe, neural networker who examines how AI compares to the Human Brain.

TOURISM HR CANADA SEEKS TO FILL WORKFORCE GAP WITH DISCOVER TOURISM

Travel is rebounding from the COVID pandemic more quickly than expected, but Canadian tourism businesses are operating with more than 100,000 fewer workers than they were in 2019. To support this gap and engage growth and recovery, Tourism HR Canada has launched a new campaign, Discover Tourism.
