Toronto Embraces Taylor Swift

It's the final week of Taylor’s Fortnight of concerts and Toronto has come together creating a city-wide sense of welcome for visitors and showing the power of major events. And the world is taking notice, including the New York Times, Billboard, and Bloomberg.

Showcasing Toronto for International Events

Our sales team is on the road and in front of prospective clients this week at IBTM World in Barcelona. IBTM is the leading global trade show for international events, with over 4,000 meeting planners and event organizers expected to be in attendance.

The Monthly Accommodation Report outlines hotel and short-term rental market performance. 

City Approves MAT Increase

Toronto City Council approved a temporary increase to the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) from 6% to 8.5% from June 1, 2025 to July 31, 2026 when Toronto will host six FIFA World Cup games. 100% of this new revenue will go to the City to support hosting costs for the games.

City Growth Strategy Prioritizes Events

City Council also approved its new economic growth strategy “Sidewalks to Skylines: A 10-Year Action Plan For Toronto’s Economy” which includes an action on working with Destination Toronto to attract major international events to the city. The City also approved a new Culture Plan to protect and elevate Toronto’s arts and culture scene.
