Seizing Toronto's World Series Moment

Toronto won hearts during the 2025 World Series, even if the final score fell short. To maximize the opportunity, DT hosted U.S. journalists, landed stories in L.A.—one of our target markets—in outlets like NBC Los Angeles and Forbes, and seized the moment with media and trade in Mexico with high-profile Mexican players, like Alejandro Kirk. We shared on-the ground moments, game guides, city guides, fan excitement and skyline visuals. Our sales and services team supported the group needs of the Blue Jays and Major League Baseball, while ensuring the success of other pre-booked business events happening at the same time. And our community engagement team focused on showcasing the economic impact of major events, and leveraging our business intelligence to highlight the benefits for our city.

Serving up Toronto with Key Media in the Big Apple

More than 80 media and influencers from outlets including Travel & Leisure, Lonely Planet, Teen Vogue, Forbes and TODAY experienced Toronto’s culinary creativity at a New York City showcase featuring chefs Afrim Pristine (The Cheese Boutique), Nuit Regular (Kiin, Pai), Carl Heinrich (Richmond Station), Stephanie Duong (Roselle), and sommelier, Beverly Crandon. The four-course tasting, paired with Niagara wines, celebrated the talent and diversity that define Toronto’s food scene.

A Province-Wide Conversation on Maximizing the FIFA Moment

CEO Andrew Weir joined Melanie Robert, Head of Brand and Marketing, FIFA World Cup 2026 and Suzanne Reeves, Executive Marketing Communications Strategist at Destination Canada on a panel at the TIAO Summit to discuss how businesses across Ontario can maximize the tournament coming to Toronto and help our community align ahead of next June.

A DT Earned Story Takes the Spotlight at the TIAO Summit

At last week’s TIAO Summit, Okla Jones, award-winning journalist and TV/Film critic, earned the Travel Media Story Award for his Essence feature “Toronto Serves as a Haven of Food, Culture and Empowerment for BIPOC Creatives” — a story secured through DT’s media relations efforts.

Supporting Attendance for the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene

In partnership with MaRS, DT secured a sponsored feature in the Toronto Star titled “These diseases don’t need visas,” positioning Toronto as a global hub in health innovation to help drive attendance for the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. Their November meeting is the first time the event will be held outside the U.S. and is expected to bring an estimated 4,900 attendees and $16M in economic impact.
